Alfred Bester (ur. 18 grudnia 1913, zm. 30 września 1987) – amerykański pisarz fantastyki. Był pierwszym pisarzem, który zdobył Nagrodę Hugo w 1953 roku za The Demolished Man (Człowiek do przeróbki).

Sławę przyniosły mu przede wszystkim dwie powieści Człowiek do przeróbki o morderstwie doskonałym w świecie, w którym policja dysponuje telepatami i Gwiazdy moim przeznaczeniem, zwaną czasem Hrabią Monte Christo w kosmosie, znakomita powieść o zemscie w swiecie przyszłości, gdzie teleportowanie (jaunting) nalezy do rzeczy powszechnych. Jego opowiadania zostały zebrane w wydanych w 1958 roku tomie Starburst, w 1964 roku The Dark Side of the Earth oraz innymi w latach 70.

Na jego cześć jedna z postaci telewizyjnego serialu sf Babilon 5 nosi nazwisko Alfred Bester.
